A Guide to the Differences Between JRPGs Ports and Enhanced Versions (Part 1).

2020.08.12 08:16 VashxShanks A Guide to the Differences Between JRPGs Ports and Enhanced Versions (Part 1).

A new day, a new guide.
This is the hardest one of the guides I wanted to make, because the information is never easy to get, which is weird. So please forgive me if I missed some changes, and by all means tell me if I missed any of them or if any of them are incorrect.
Since this list is really long, this guide is going to come in parts, this part covers:

Important Notes:

  • This is made for Ports and Enhanced versions, so No Remakes. So this is about differences between the different versions of Chrono Trigger, and not about the differences between FF7 ps1 and FF7 Remake.
  • The differences are taken from all over the internet, either from official sources, wikis, youtube, and even forums.
  • I cover all the changes for a game, unless there is too many, in which case I will highlight the ones worth mentioning.

~ Valkyrie profile (PSX US.ver): vs Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth PSP vs iOS & Andriod. ~

Valkyrie profile PSX:

Nearly identical to the Japan version but with minor fixes in the menu screen. In the Japanese version, Characters not in the party were unable to change or learn skills nor were they able change or remove equipment. The US version allowed out of party members to change and learn skills as well as change or remove equipment without being added to the party. Also in the Japanese version, Lenneth would unequip all her skills and equipment when switching between sword and bow. The US version 'remembers' the previous setting when switching weaponry and is automatically equipped with the skills and equip. Another improvement over the Japanese version is an improved item sorting option.
There are a few instances of censoring such as Badrach's smoking.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth PSP:

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth lacks the improvement made in US version. Rather than re-rendering the textures of the dungeon maps, TOSE cropped and upscaled the pre-rendered images to fit the portable console's screen, resulting in severe blurring in some areas. This version also removes the anime opening movie in favor of 3D CGI, animated movie. Certain key story-sequences were animated in the same style as the opening movie and can be viewed at anytime in the Gallery option in the title screen once unlocked in the story. The animated scenes include:
  • Opening Movie
  • Lenneth's Awakening
  • Jelanda's Transformation
  • Alicia witnesses Barbarossa's execution
  • Lenneth's encounter with the Lord of the Undead
  • Lenneth and the Homunculi
  • A chance encounter between "Meril" and Lucian
  • Lenneth in Weeping Lily Meadow
  • Lucian's departure to Valhalla
  • Hrist's Awakening
  • The Sovereign's Rite
  • A Ending
Other big changes are:
  • An enhanced version of the original game's localization
  • Square Enix cleaned up the original game's English script and additional voice over dialogue for the CG movies was recorded by New Generation Pictures, rather than the original company, TAJ Productions.

Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth iOS & Andriod:

This is the PSP version being ported to iOS & Andriod, with the following changes:
  • Enhanced graphics such as character portraits. >* Enhanced Text.
  • Enhanced UI.
  • The option to skip cut-scenes.
  • In-app purchases to unlock collectibles
  • Ability to turn on auto-battle.

~ Chrono Trigger (SNES): PSX vs NDS vs iOS & Andriod vs PC. ~

Chrono Trigger PSX:

Anime cut scenes created by original character designer Akira Toriyama's Bird Studio and animated by Toei Animation.
A new Extra Mode Option was added that is divided into different categories of viewable extras, that are unlocked as you finish the game, and just as shown in the picture, they are:
  • Theater.
  • Art Gallery.
  • Music Box.
  • Tech Showcase.
  • Monster Data.
  • Boss Data.
  • Endings.
  • Treasure Map.

Chrono Trigger NDS:

This version includes everything new in the PSX version, and also has big and a long list of changes and additions, which I will try to condense them as much as possible:
  • Ability to play using the two screens and the touch screen, or in classic mode through a single screen.
  • Added the Arena of Ages: A monster arena where You pick basic monsters and raise them to fight computer and wireless opponents.
  • Added the Lost Sanctum: A sidequest during the main game. It consists of two dungeons in two different eras.
  • Added the Dimensional Vortex: A extra Dungeon, available after beating the game once and appears in three different eras. Each dungeon is different.
  • A lot of New Items.
  • New Enemies in the new dungeons, in the form of palette swaps of old enemies.
  • One New Ending after finishing the Dimensional Vortex completely.
  • New Translation that changes a lot of names form the original version to something more faithful to the Japanese version.

Chrono Trigger iOS & Android:

Both versions initially were based on the NDS version, but later on got an update to make them similar to the PC version.

Chrono Trigger PC:

Everything on the NDS version is present here except there is No Arena of Ages. What they did add however is:
  • Auto-Save feature.
  • Higher Resolution Graphics and update UI.
  • Support for mouse and keyboard controls.
  • Remastered sound and music.

~ Star Ocean: The Second Story (PSX): vs Star Ocean: Second Evolution (PSP) vs PS4 (JP.ver). ~

Star Ocean: Second Evolution:

  • A New Translation that changes almost everything in the game.
  • New voice actors. >* New voiced acted scenes; All major story events now have voice acting.
  • New recruitable character: Welch Vineyard.
  • New Private Actions and 13 new Endings.
  • Unlocking the Galaxy and Universe modes now require defeating a specific number of enemies in a single playthrough rather than unlocking voices in the Voice Collection. >>>* Practically all Combat Skills have been refined, some being removed (such as Cancel, which is now automatically implemented).
  • The combat system has been slightly refined, now allowing all melee fighters to perform a 3-hit combo as their normal attack.
  • The Super Specialty "Bunny Call" no longer allows the player to "climb" on towns and some terrains. The player now will enter a town upon approaching while in Bunny Form, and can even activate private actions.
  • All items in the inventory screen are now depicted as 2D icons instead of the original 3D models.
  • Many bugs and glitches have been fixed (most notably the infamous random Cave of Trials screen freeze).
  • Ring of Lightspeed (called Slayer Ring in Second Story) now works on Dias Flac.
  • New character designs and portraits.
  • No magic combo mechanic.
  • Crafting animations are now replaced by a still 2D image.

Star Ocean: Second Evolution PS4 JP.ver:

This enhanced version was released only in Japan on the PS4, with enhanced graphics and BGM, and a DLC that helps you with the gameplay.

~ The Last Remnant (Xbox360): vs PC vs PS4 & Switch Remastered. ~

The Last Remnant PC:

This version is only available to purchase in the EU SquareEnix online store as of right now:
Battles:
  • Turbo Mode is now available, and can be toggled on or off while giving orders to unions in battle. When on, battles play out at double the speed.
  • Crimson Flare, a new Arcana, is now available.
  • New formations, such as Eremurus Rain, are now available.
  • Enemies hit considerably harder.
  • Rare Monsters can have significantly higher HP than their XBOX 360 counterparts.
  • Arcana require substantially more AP.
  • Unique Arts now require AP.
  • Remnant Arts can only be performed by union leader, Weapon Arts now require high union morale.
  • Offensive Weapon Arts now increase morale when used.
  • Additionally, Arcana and offensive Special Arts now raise morale by a fixed amount.
  • Likewise, certain Enemy Arts now lower morale by a fixed amount.
  • Wards now affect the entire union.
  • Attributes required for formation upgrades are vastly different.
  • Healing no longer raises morale, and morale increased by Critical Hits has been dramatically reduced.
  • Union morale now fluctuates based on more conditions (IE: taking an action, successfully landing a hit, receiving damage, etc.). In the X360 version, union morale stayed somewhat static, usually changing when being healed, being KO'd/terminated, executing a successful Critical Trigger. It also did not drop to 0 whenever an offensive Special Art was executed, whereas it will do so on the PC.
  • Linking additional enemies together does not increase your Battle Rank further than having fought them separately.
  • Special commands, such as the use of David's Gae Bolg, are no longer interrupted by being raidlocked by a different union or having targeted enemy union defeated by an ally.
  • Allies now have the option to cure a friendly union's Curse status ailment via "Cure them even if it kills them!" command. This command is in the XBOX 360 version as well, but is only available when the union is Enthralled; it will not be available when the union is cursed.
Items:
  • Items are color-coded in the PC version, and a new preview feature lets you see what the item looks like in battle.
  • You can now toggle between viewing the stats of a weapon or shield and viewing a preview of what it looks like in battle.
  • Components and consumables are now categorized.
  • Items are now color-coded based on their rarity.
  • Creation or customization of some items require fewer components.
  • New items available via Blueprint 4.
  • Various weapon stats have changed.
  • Some very rare monster-specific drops can now be split from monsters (e.g., Godwood Timber, Spiritwood Timber).
Units:
  • The leader limit is no longer imposed. Unions can be composed entirely of leader units if the player desires.
  • Likewise, soldiers can now be set as union leaders.
  • The stat cap has been lifted for all characters to allow a maximum of 255 for each stat.
  • The Seven are now recruitable after completing Union of the Golden Chalice Task #70: For Our Lord.
  • Rush can now be removed from the active party.
  • Khrynia can learn the new Unique Art Dual Snowpetal.
  • Arts can be disabled, filtering which skills a unit may use in combat.
  • Leaders' requested components are displayed when viewing their stats.
  • Leaders' wield style can be changed depending on their equipped weapon.
  • Shields now prevent style changes mid-battle.
  • The following classes now prevent style changes: Guardian, Scout, Hunter, Wanderer, Thief, Alchemist, all Mystic classes, Vagrant, Mercenary, Aristocrat, Djin, Fortuneteller, Sage and General.
  • The experience required to advance Wield Style skills has been reduced, and the experience required to advance Weapon Type skills has been increased.
  • Three new classes are now available: Ataraxian, Cleric, and Ninja.
  • The Guardian, Fencer, and Warrior classes now require non-sovani wield styles, and are thus not available to Sovani.
  • The Gladiator class now requires Power Grip and Wards.
  • Hybrid classes (Item+Combat and Mystic+Combat) can now be achieved by units who do not start in one.
  • Some leaders now have a different weapon upgrade path, which caused some units to learn new Weapon Arts while others lost theirs.
  • Leaders can request weapons that do not coincide with their weapon upgrade path as long as they match their equipped weapon type and size.
  • Soldiers can now request weapon drops.
  • Some units have had their starting Unit BR level, stats, class, equipment, arts, and hiring wage changed.
Sidequests:
  • The completion of At Hatred's End is no longer required in order to activate Things Unchangeable.
  • Duke of Ghor now has a … icon when you speak with him between the first, third, and fifth base battles.
  • The component requirements in The Assistant have lowered.
  • The DLC content is now unlocked differently; the majority of the extra content now requires the completion of certain guild tasks.
  • The Leader Extraordinaire guild tasks which required three units of a single class now only require one.
  • The Monsterslayer guild tasks require different enemies to be defeated.
New Game Plus and Hard Mode: After the epilogue and credits, you can now save your game. When you're taken back to the main menu, you can load this save to begin a new playthrough that carries over certain elements from your previous playthrough. You will also be given the option to start the new game in Hard Mode.
Miscellaneous:
  • The PC version will warn you if you cannot leave an area without a fight.
  • Auto Save is now available, which automatically saves after having changed zones or having won a battle.
  • Battle Rank is now viewable outside of combat, in the party menu.
  • Battle Rank progression has been slowed considerably; it takes more encounters/enemy unions terminated to increase in rank.
  • Characters with … icons are now identified with markers on the map.
  • Enemies can no longer be respawned by saving and reloading an adjacent area.
  • New saving opportunities are now available, such as before the base's boss.
  • A warning message is now displayed if you attempt to save your game in an area which you cannot leave until you defeat a boss.
  • Mr Diggs's digging animations are now much quicker.
  • The loading screens that explained some of the game's mechanics have been disabled.
  • Many areas of the game have had their spawn tables altered or repopulated.
  • Starting battle music now coincides with starting morale in most battles.
  • "Turn the Tide" and "Beat the Odds" now play during the second half instead of after entering Elysion.
  • Union highlighting during the selection phase has been toned down (ie: ally unions don't look quite as blue).
  • Leaders in reserve no longer gain skills via the Rush only skill grind trick.
  • Soldiers now slowly improve their stats in reserves.
  • Camera in battle doesn't swing around as wildly anymore.
  • Mitra soldiers' idle stances now come in 2 varieties: the one shared by both male and female units and the one exclusive to larger male units, rather than just the "large male mitra" stance.

The Last Remnant Remastered PS4 & Switch:

Based on the PC version, also added:
  • Graphics now are in Unreal Engine 4
  • A new function to run faster on the overworld.
  • Extra save slots.
Yes I am salty about this if you can't tell, since they removed the PC version from steam.

  • New Titles
  • More post-battle animations.
  • Niflheim dungeon extended and 6 new boss characters, fought in 2 new boss battles.
  • Bug Fixes

  • Dual-audio support: Japanese and English voiceovers, which neither the PS2 or GameCube versions had
  • Cutscenes support voice acting in both languages, but skits only have voice acting in Japanese. If you select English, you will just see the subtitles during skits. This is not a porting issue, as this is just how the GameCube version was.
  • While the original GameCube version ran at 60fps, the Japanese PS2 port which the PS3 Chronicles HD version is based off of ran at 30fps. The Steam version can run at 40FPS.
  • HD graphics

~ Skies of Arcadia (DC): vs Skies of Arcadia: Legends GC. ~

Skies of Arcadia: Legends GC:

  • New Ranks for the Swashbuckler Rating system.
  • Random encounters occur less frequently and load considerably faster than the Dreamcast version, and EXP offered per battle is adjusted to compensate.
  • Graphically, the game sports mild improvements to character models, most noticeably adding individual fingers to the designs. The modifier volume shadows and (weirdly enough) point-mipmapping from the original release are still present.
  • One of the new sidequests available is Bounty Hunting. Sailor's Guilds offer information about each person on the bounty list as they are unlocked through story progression. After reading about them, they can be found in a constant location.
  • There are a number of new discoveries to be found.
  • Two linked sidequests
  • "Pinta Quest" minigame was removed
  • DLC comes with the game.

~ Persona 3 (PS2): vs Persona 3 FES PS2 (English.ver) vs P3P PSP. ~

FES PS2 (English.ver):

  • A whole additional epilogue has been added, The Answer. This chapter is only available in one difficulty setting, which is supposed to be on par with Persona 3's Hard mode.
  • New Personas have been added
  • Secret videos of the protagonist's dorm mates have been added to flesh them out.
  • Koromaru can now be taken on walks.
  • Several of the Social Links have been modified slightly, such as Tanaka being available at a different time
  • Several new Quests have been added.
  • New costumes can be worn in battle.
  • A new event involving Chidori Yoshino was added.
  • Naganaki Shrine was completely overhauled.
  • A hard mode was added.
  • Save data from Persona 3 can be transferred into the game,

P3P PSP:

  • The Answer is not included in this verion.
  • Added a Female Main Character, so now you can choose between the Male and Female MCs.
  • The game lacks 3D environments and character models (outside of Tartarus), all anime cutscenes are gone, the graphics and audio quality were compressed,
  • The storyline of the female protagonist features many differences from that of the male protagonist, such as new social interactions as well as Social Links.
  • New voiced dialogue.
  • Players have the choice of selecting Elizabeth or a male-equivalent named Theodore to be Igor's assistant in the Velvet Room.
  • The ability to pick who the protagonist spends the last moments of the game with. This feature is only accessible on a New Cycle
  • The Desert of Doors from the Abyss of Time seen in The Answer will still appear, however, in an extra feature known as the Vision Quest. In this mode, the party can fight stronger incarnations of the Full Moon shadow bosses — save for Arcana Magician — and partake in special battles that test the party's abilities. When all of the battles have been successfully met, a second optional boss can be fought: Margaret, Igor's assistant in Persona 4 and guardian of the Desert of Doors in P3P.
  • There are now two overworld save points; Aside from the log book in the Iwatodai Dormitory, there is also one on the main character's desk at school.
  • In Paulownia Mall, the police station is now the only place where the protagonist can buy equipment and sell items. Aohige Pharmacy is now a buy-only store, and Be Blue V is just a part-time work site and hangout to improve the main character's condition
  • From previous versions, two difficulty modes have been added: Beginner and Maniac alongside Easy and Normal in Persona 3 and Hard in Persona 3 FES:
  • A new tactic, "Direct," has been added to the game, allowing control of the party members, unlike Persona 3 and Persona 3 FES.
  • The "Wait" command is replaced with the "Defense" command, and will decrease the damage and any knockdown effects of the next attack the user suffers.
  • The game grants "1 More" to a combatant who attacks multiple enemies not knocking all of them down; the original Persona 3 required all hit enemies to be knocked down for a 1 more.
  • Party members who have been knocked down no longer spend the turn by getting up and can act as soon as they stand.
  • Upon landing a critical hit or striking an enemy's weakness, party members can follow up with a co-op attack.
  • Fusion Spells from the original Persona 3 are now activated from items instead of equipping a persona and selecting it like other spells.
  • Allies can now take a fatal blow to the protagonist for them if they are able.
  • "Dizzy" has been added as a status effect.
  • Returning to the main lobby in Tartarus no longer automatically restores the party, and must now be done for a fee via the save point (this cost varies based on the date in-game and status effects currently inflicted on the party)
  • Floors can be directly returned to from the entrance of Tartarus instead of being restricted to the restore point like previous versions.
  • "Tired" status no longer is inflicted during Tartarus exploration, and is inflicted to all used party members after leaving (this will only drop to "Good" if the character used was at "Great" during exploration).
  • Unlike previous versions, money found by party members when split up will now be given to the protagonist.
  • Party members' equipment and status can now be accessed at any time from the pause menu, unlike in previous versions, which required the protagonist to speak to them while exploring Tartarus in order to change their equipment or view their status.
  • You can now control Party members directly.
  • The protagonists only have access to one weapon type (instead of having access to all weapon types like in P3 and FES); the male protagonist wields one-handed swords, and the female protagonist wields naginatas. As a result, the Skills "Fist Master," "Bow Master," "1hdSwdMaster" and similar skills have all been combined into a single skill called "Weapons Master." Its skill card is called "Phys Boost," and all Personas which had learned a "master" ability (like Cybele with Bow Master) now learn "Weapons Master."
  • Personas now have the ability to produce a Skill Card when raised to a specific level. Each card can be used on any Persona to teach them a skill.
  • The Inari Sushi in Naganaki Shrine no longer grants random bonuses for item gaining and Tartarus explorations. Instead, it offers to duplicate Skill Cards, which will take 5 days to complete

  • Obtaining Quickenings no longer affects max MP and Mist charges do not diminish when MP is consumed (unless the player is affected by a reversed Elixir or Megalixir). The player's MP is also unaffected by the depletion of Mist charges. However, effects that recover the player's MP will also restore Mist charges. One Mist charge is granted each time the amount recovered totals the player's maximum MP. Effects that fully restore a player's MP recover all Mist charges.
  • You can now fully control Espers, they also require MP to cast magicks
  • Almost all attacks now break the 9999 damage limit from the original by default.
  • New items have been added, such as Cura Mote, Bubble Mote, Domaine Calvados, Baltoro Seed, Dark Energy and various Meteorites.
  • Bacchus's Wine now has 100% chance of inflicting Berserk (previously it was 50%).
  • Several equipment pieces were added, while some available in the original release were removed or tweaked.
  • New Weapons added.
  • Most shops had their assortments changed. Many weapons are now available from shops earlier because of the job system, and were thus made weaker.
  • Treasures respawn by moving just one area away as opposed to two. Treasures were moved around, changed the items they can give, or were removed altogether. The "forbidden chest" concept was removed, that in the original prevented the player from obtaining the Zodiac Spear in Necrohol of Nabudis if they opened a wrong treasure.
  • Dark Matter can no longer be acquired from the bazaar, and selling the ingredients needed to make it in the original will result in making the Dark Energy instead. The Dark Energy is an item that does not charge up with Knot of Rust or Devour Soul and always deals 50,000 damage to each enemy in range.
  • Treasure chests are now in different locations and contain different items.
  • There are more traps throughout the map.

Final Fantasy 12: Zodiac Age PS4/PC/Switch/Xbox One:

  • Remastered HD graphical upgrade.
  • English and Japanese voices (switch between them in the game configuration).
  • Original and newly re-recorded background music (switch between them in the game configuration).
  • Auto-save functionality added (game saves automatically when moving to each new screen, excepting boss arenas)
  • Improved high-speed mode and improved play time operability during high-speed mode
  • Ability to invert both the X and Y camera axes
  • The game balance has been overhauled to make it easier.
  • Each playable character can have two jobs at once.
  • Job Reset function added; talk to Montblanc in the Clan Hall to use.
  • The Effect Capacity system that limited spell-casting in the PlayStation 2 versions has been removed.
  • Fire, Thunder, Blizzard, and Cure only affect a single target again.
  • Espers' HP values have been doubled, but other stats kept the same as in Zodiac Job System.
  • The animation for summoning Espers is removed.
  • A glitch concerning Dyce's character model has been fixed.
  • New Game Plus and New Game Minus are now accessible from the beginning of the game.

~ Rune Factory 4 (3DS): vs Rune Factory 4 Special Switch. ~

Rune Factory 4 Special Switch:

  • HD Graphics.
  • Newlywed Mode.
  • Hell Difficulty.
  • Additional Movies.
  • Another Episode DLC.
  • Swimsuit Day DLC.
  • Many Town Events are now prioritized if requirements have been met. This includes Memories, which unlocks the last story arc and the events required for marriage.
  • The map has been moved to the main screen and can be removed and resized with the press of a button (the Switch has only one screen) or by using the touch screen icon.
  • The teleport spell has been mapped to a dedicated button. It can still be used from the touch screen.
  • You can now change the voice acting language between English and Japanese.
  • Many bug fixes.

This is just part 1, if you have any suggestions for titles to be in part 2, please post them here.

2020.03.05 19:21 GranerosdeJose Isaiah the Prophet of Salvation - Part 3: Rebellious and Inaccurate Children, Dr. Stephen Jones

https://josemariaarmesto.blogspot.com/2020/03/isaias-profeta-de-la-salvacion-parte-3.html
05-03-2020

2019.10.30 08:02 hananamar Unable to download Ubuntu 19.10 update after aborting it the first time

I'm running a Virtual Box on Windows with Ubuntu 19.04, and a few days ago I got the notification about the release of 19.10 from the Ubuntu Software app. I clicked on Update Now, but then had to abort when I realized it would probably take more time than I had at the time...
However now, when I check for updates I get an error with the following message:
Unable to download updates:
failed to refresh cache E: The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/pinta-maintainers/pinta-stable/ubuntu-disco Release' does not have a Release file.
and I get the "Software is up to date" check mark.
Any advice?

Buon pomeriggio a tutti.

Io... non so dove guardare e come fare.

2018.07.18 17:07 hedgeskenny870 Make Hollywood Great Again: Films On The Wrong Side of History

It's long been argued that films best be left as reflections of their time; that social mores and terms since deemed politically incorrect should not inform one's views of the work. But there is a valid counterpoint. As shows like Mad Men only enhance the inherent sexism of the 1960s, we're encouraged to re-evaluate such issues – particularly knee-deep in the #MeToo movement. This is not, as some might fear, reason to dismiss a work of art, merely to point to its flawed-thinking as a document of history.
The Birth of a Nation (1915)
D.W. Griffith's epic about two opposing families during and after Lincoln's assassination is perhaps the only one listed still taught in cinema classes. At three-hours long, it's the first American film to run 12 reels and be screened inside the White House by then-President Woodrow Wilson. From Thomas Dixon Jr.s' novel The Clansman, the film's portrayal of African Americans is problematic, to say the least. Played largely in blackface, they are unintelligent and, in a key scene, just a little rape-y.
Falling Down (1993)
Joel Schumacher's angry white man film takes place in a post-1992 Los Angeles, when furor over the Rodney King verdicts led to the burning streets. However, aside from one early encounter with a gang, Schumacher's embattled laid-off defence employee (Michael Douglas) takes on overpriced Korean grocers, neo-nazis and entitled golfers. And it's one-sided, pat-on-the-back attitude of capturing a modern crisis is undercut by surrounding Douglas with characters we're not meant to identify with – it's no shock that the first of which is an immigrant, followed by a gang. Audiences are only meant to cheer for him while he scares an elderly golfer into a heart attack.
One could view Douglas as the ultimate Trumper (nazism excluded), and they wouldn't be wrong. It's only in the film's final moments, when Douglas seemingly rebukes the concept that his country was taken – that his actions speak more to his character – that it stops lining up with present day. Today, Douglas would be sure there were “fine people on both sides.”
American Sniper (2014)
It's hard to pinpoint when Clint Eastwood stopped being a filmmaker and started being an empty chair-yelling faux-documentarian, but Sniper is a good signifier. The man that defined “manhood” to a generation turned out to be all the worse aspects of it. And with his loving biopic of sniper Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper), his MAGA hat was being pre-stitched.
But Kyle's legacy has since been tarnished, or at least marginally disrupted, by allegations of xenophobia and outright lying began to surface. He comes across less a tragic figure forced into war with a very specific set of talents, but a goon and a bully. Later, even his family came under fire when charitable donations from Kyle's memoir were called into question.
1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992)
Pull any American off the street and they will likely get the founding of their land wrong – their heads filled with elementary school stories and urban legends who've done their damage. Many a late-night talk-show has exploited the ignorance of their fellow countryperson for a gag. Leave it to a Brit to tell you your own history, and Ridley Scott's attempt to dramatize Christopher Columbus' four attempts (three, according to the film) to travel the Pacific may be the closest mainstream one yet, but it's still loaded with anachronisms regarding The Nina, The Pinta and The Santa Maria, Spanish culture at the time. It also claims, that the flat earther theory was still in popularity, though the idea of a round earth was common knowledge to anyone for over 1000 years at that point. But Scott et al. still surround the story with the kind of hubris long-since debunked. At least it's visually engrossing. More embarrassing is the Alexander and Ilya Salkind-produced Christopher Columbus: The Discovery.
Oleanna (1994)
David Mamet has never been one to shade his female characters with great depth. Their counterparts are fast-talking, erudite, fowl-mouthed Chicago men who, in reality, would probably be closer to SNL's “Da Bears” fans than whatever the hell Joe Mantegna is. But perhaps most embarrassing and timely, given the #MeToo movement, is his play-cum-film Oleanna. William H. Macy plays a stressed out professor who first kindly, then aggressively tries to explain his teachings during office hours to a seemingly slow student. However, soon allegations of rape are brought against him, among other issues, and the tables are turned. The film ends explosively, intended to bring into question whether or not what occurs is, in fact, sexual harassment or self-righteous political-correctness. Today, however, that question is less ambiguous.
Rambo III (1989)
Rambo III's politics are legendary, as the muscular hero teams up with the Taliban to fight the Soviets. The franchise had lost its way after the moderately tame first entry, which features a PTSD-inflicted Vietnam Vet ostracized by a small, Oregon town. By the time James Cameron's script forPart II featured him re-fighting (and winning) Vietnam, it wasn't the same, heartbreaking story. But part III's good intentions were the same as that of Senator Charlie Wilson, who helped arm the Taliban before they turned their attentions elsewhere. Cold War politics weren't easy, and Rambo was never the answer. Hell, neither was Rocky.
Joe (1970)
1970: A year earlier, the 60s had officially died at Altamont. The Vietnam War raged. Two years later, the offices of the DNC at the Watergate hotel would be broken into. John G. Avildsen's Joe not only inspired characters like Archie Bunker, but swore off actor Peter Boyle from appearing in films featuring violence. After businessman Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick) kills the drug-addled boyfriend of his daughter (Susan Sarandon, in her debut), he's blackmailed into a friendship with working class racist, hippie-hating Joe. There's a tragic story connected to the climactic scenes, in which Joe and Compton gun down a group of hippies. Ten weeks prior to release, a railroad worker killed his daughter, her boyfriend and two others. The judge had excluded any juror who had seen the film.
Joe was never meant to be a likable character. To the contrary, he's a bullish, crude, hopefully irrelevant monster. The actual killer received hundreds of letters of sympathy from parents across the country. Joe, instead, represents the rise of the “silent majority” - who have largely been courted to by American politicians since Nixon.
To quote The Big Lebowski, “Condolensces. The bums lost.”
Death Wish (1974)
Author Brian Garfield never intended his novel to be a fascistic revenge fantasy, hating the Charles Bronson film that resulted. Rather, he believed it was a cautionary tale. After Bronson's wife is murdered and wife raped by an anonymous gang (one a young Jeff Goldblum), he goes on a killing rampage – often intentionally putting himself in harm's way to unload on a criminal.
Bronson went on to have a long action career, but Paul Kersey – his Death Wish character – has a different legacy. When news of a subway vigilante hit in a crime-ridden New York, general public reaction was fairly positive. They had their own Kersey. That is, until New York got a look at Bernie Goetz – the openly racist shooter.
And that's not even discussing the film's abhorrent reputation in the age of mass shooters. Eli Roth's poorly received remake displayed that particular public animus.
Most 80s Comedies
We've spoken about the dated language and racist archetypes in John Hughes comedies before, but the fundamental issues with the 1980s go far beyond such matters. Take, as a light example, the repeated use of the word “fag” in Teen Wolf. It's so tone deaf that there's still a sense of absurdity that just leaves modern audiences with their jaws hanging open. That's understandable – words, after all, are about context and through the lenses of today one might just view the character as an imbecile or a dated archetype. But then look at what is clearly a pro-rape scene at the climax of Revenge of the Nerds...

Thank you all for your questions! Here is a summary of our November AMA:

Q: Are we on track to release public DAA and announce the usage of ICN token in December?
If yes, do we have some pre plans to execute the announcement through a conference or live hangout?
A:Hello sparakh17. The platform will not go from 0 to 1. Instead, the rollout of new features will be performed gradually to ensure the highest possible standards you've come to expect of ICONOMI and a spotless user experience. This is a practice we have used in the past, and it has proven to work best in the long run. It takes just one bad experience to turn people away. We are in constant communication with DAA managers and are committed to adding new DAA managers continuously. With intensive two-way communication, we are able to pinpoint the most important parts of the experience and usability in real time, tweaking development and improving the experience for all the new users and managers who join the platform. We chose the first twelve DAA managers for a reason—together we are making the platform a highly dedicated tool tailored to the needs of its users.
The same process will be used for the introduction of the fiat ramp-up, the ability for DAA managers to set DAA structure themselves, and all other features that change the behavior of the platform and therefore must undergo meticulous testing, both in-house and in cooperation with DAA managers. Using this very same process before opening the platform completely on August 1 enabled us to launch without bugs. We favor this process to ensure quality and roll out gradually, so it is very hard to specify an exact date of “the” launch. Anyone can apply to be a DAA manager even now, but the acceptance criteria lower as the platform becomes more and more robust, feature-rich, and automated. However, DAA managers will be added continuously, and everyone is welcome to apply.
Q: Once the platform has been released, and marketing is in full swing, will you be able to add more in-depth KPIs to your shareholder's report, and what ones would you look to add?
Critical statistics for investors to know are;
- Average deposit per user
- Average time spent on the platform per user
- % number of users depositing more than once
- Total recurring visits per user, per calendar month
I am not asking for these stats to be released anytime soon, but the introduction of these KPIs will help us better understand the value proposition that we're involved in.
A: Hello owenoneilluk. You’re right; these are critical statistics. We will be tracking all of these KPIs. Some will be included in our reporting and be accessible via an API, but we have not yet confirmed the complete list. All the data, however, will be available to DAA managers.
Q: When can we expect an independent third-party audit?
A: Hello WorldsMostDad. We are currently in talks with Big Four audit firms. We expect the audit to take place in 2018. As part of our commitment to transparency, we will be the first blockchain project undergoing third-party auditing at an institutional level. The audit will confirm the accuracy of our financial communications, such as the data released in our quarterly financial reports. This kind of transparency will be key to bringing institutional investors onto the platform.
Q: When the FIAT gateway apears on ICONOMI will the ICONOMI Debit card apear at the same time or with delay? If delayed, what kind of delay are we talking about?
A: Hello investmox. The fiat ramp-up and the debit card are two separate features, both of which will be released over several phases. First, fiat will be added as an option in DAA structures. This will enable managers to temporarily move into fiat during periods of high volatility. The next step will be enabling fiat deposits for large transfers over a certain amount, which will allow us to bring bigger investors onto the platform. Later, the fiat gateway minimum amount will be removed. The debit card infrastructure will be developed in parallel and is likely to be released soon after the fiat ramp-up because it takes more time to develop, implement, and test.
Q: Hello Iconomi team! Platform looks better and better with every update!
My question is simple:
Can you share the total AUM of BLX and the other 12 DAAs combined (please separately from BLX), and the number of registered users at the time of answering this question?
A: Hello Daparski. In the future, users will be able to track the AUM for each DAA directly on the platform. For now, the current AUM for BLX is $8,495,546.39, and the AUM for the other DAAs combined is $2,721,384.90.
There are 33,253 registered users on the platform at this time.
Q: In a previous AMA, it was stated that ICONOMI was working on an assurance to cover potentially lost of assets. Can you elaborate on the current status regarding the insurance of ICONOMI's assets, and what type of losses are covered (i.e. server hack, protocol bug, software bug, etc.)?
Keep up the good work!
A: Hello zuiderwijk. We will release details about the scope of our insurance policies once the deal has been finalized.
Q: What steps have been taken to solve the issue regarding the parity vulnerability and minimizing the risk of similar events occuring in the future?
A: Hello CorradoJunior. We are closely monitoring the situation. The Parity team is working on a solution, and the frozen funds could be unlocked with the next planned Ethereum hard fork. We will continue to update the community when we receive any new information. We want to emphasize that all of our users’ digital assets are safe and that the functioning of the platform remains unaffected.
Security procedures must be constantly reevaluated and improved, especially in the blockchain environment. We are implementing an overall security program to address these new challenges.
Q: Currently 20% of realized profits from CCP are being used for buybacks. However, most of the CCP assets are being held in Ether which won't count towards buybacks; and also it's previously been communicated that the profits will be calculated against the currency they were purchased with. This means that even if an investment doubles in USD, there could be 0 realized profits if the eth or btc pair it was purchased against also doubled.
CCP has increased tremendously in value, by tens of millions of dollars, yet we've only had roughly 200k icn burned. If we could add a 3% management fee on top of CCP at the current cap of 50m, this would mean at least $100,000 worth of ICN burned per month at current levels.
Will there be any consideration to charge a management fee on CCP?
A: Hello stephen2512, and thank you for your interesting proposal. We will take it into consideration, but we currently have no plans to change the fee structure for CCP. Charging a 3 percent management fee on CCP may have some benefits, but it would impose significant added costs for ICONOMI that would outweigh the benefits at this time.
Q: Do you work towards partnership with well-known investment funds?
A: Hello Bumerang007. Details about any future partnerships will be released when they are publicly announced.
Q: There has been ongoing communication from Jani8x and the team that Iconomi will "always keep enough assets in fiat for at least 2 years of runway. In that case operation will never be jeopardized no matter what" (https://www.reddit.com/ICONOMI/comments/697cbiconomi_ama_may_2017/dh548ay/).

Today in the Q3 Report we learned that Iconomi has $2,542,531 plus $577,700 (Total of $3,120231) in fiat and that the team has spent $742,314 in salaries, rent, etc this quarter.

If the team were to stop giving raises, stop hiring new people, and cross their fingers that rent wouldn't go up at their building, then that would make the operating costs *$5,938,512 over the next two years* ($742,314 * 8).

On the Iconomi website, however, they are hiring for three new positions (https://www.iconomi.net/jobs), and since the team has been growing by 15%+ each quarter, it's reasonable to assume continued growth around this rate.

Cost of Operations per the last 3 AMAs:
2017 - Q1 - $562,542
2017 - Q2 - $646,912
2017 - Q3 - $742,314

Projected Cost of Operations (assuming the same 15% growth that has been demonstrated each quarter this year continues):
2017 - Q4 - $853,661
2018 - Q1 - $981,710
2018 - Q2 - $1,128,966
2018 - Q3 - $1,298,311
2018 - Q4 - $1,493,058
2019 - Q1 - $1,717,017
2019 - Q2 - $1,974,569
2019 - Q3 - $2,270,755

To maintain the 2 year fiat runway Iconomi needs between: $5,938,512 and $11,718,047 BUT per the q3 report the team only has $3,120231 on hand in fiat. This means the team actually has enough cash on hand for about 3-4 quarters and not 2 years.

In light of recent events such as the Parity Multi Sig exploit, it would seem as imperative as ever that the team keep this 2 years of FIAT as a buffer as has been previously communicated. Since the team does not seem to be keeping these holdings per the Q3 report;   Why are important deviations from AMAs (such as changing FIAT holdings and moving funds Back into parity multi sig wallets) not being communicated to the community?
A: Hello stephen2512. Thank you for your detailed analysis. It is important to understand that team size does not grow linearly, so a growth rate of 15 percent every quarter is very unlikely. It is also necessary to take potential revenue into account when making projections of this kind. Our fiat holdings are not fixed: we monitor the level of our holdings closely and adjust it based on our expectations of what will happen in the crypto market.
Q: As I understand, Iconomi has a positive cashflow after a year of existence. Please elaborate on a Cost-to-Income Ratio (CIR): I would like to understand the main drivers of numerator and denumerator, what are your CIR predictions for 2018/2019, and what does Iconomi plan to do with company profits?
A: Hello drediedas. Operating costs are mainly salaries, rent, legal costs, travel, and other administrative and fixed costs, while operating income is comprised of fees generated by the platform.
ICONOMI is a very dynamic project. It is impossible to imagine all the changes the fast-moving blockchain environment will go through over the next two years, and regulatory changes may impose new costs. Because of these factors, it is difficult to make useful long-term CIR predictions.
Q: Are you actively pursuing partnership opportunities with traditional financial institutions (outside of blockchain.one). (E.g. If Iconomi could be the preferred partner of Fidelity for cryptocurrency investors; that would be exceptional)
A: Hello vertigo2130. Yes, we are constantly working with traditional financial institutions to form new partnerships and to get feedback. However, as mentioned in our response to Bumerang007’s question, we cannot talk about specific potential partnerships until they have been confirmed and publicly announced.
Q: When it comes to voting, it seems like the corporate standard is usually just to vote on the executive team. I know the details for this are still being worked out, but can some clarification be given at least to if we would just be voting for the executive team we want or if the only option will be, vote for the whole ICN team or vote for another whole company to manage it. It seems like if we’re forced to choose between entire companies then the fix is in because most people would never want to risk that. It would make more sense to vote only for the executive team.
When the vote comes after the 2 year mark, will the vote be just for members of the executive team, or will we be forced to vote on the entire company as a whole?
A: Hello stephen2512. ICN holders will definitely be voting on the service provider for ICONOMI, but the details will be further defined. The concept of a service provider is new, and the actual process will largely depend on the state of legislation. As we have stated in previous AMAs, we will release more details about the voting process as the two-year mark approaches.
Q: Using transparency as key iconomi value, using old economy rules of transparency would also apply in full with no obstacles. Such as reports of ICN buy and sell transactions.
Investors asume this is basic transparency reporting:
Why aren’t you reporting, in spirit of compliance and transparency, as a good will and being step ahed of competition, all buy and sell transactions, volume, prices, dates, place of execution of ICN token from ICONOMI, ICONOMI related legal entities, management employees ... ?
A: Hello legaltenderlegal, and thank you for the suggestion. In future, we will be publishing this data in full.
ICONOMI has always been deeply committed to transparency. We are in the process of hiring a Big Four auditing company, which will help us ensure that we are correctly applying all the rules of transparency from the old economy. We also touched on this topic in our response to WorldsMostDad’s question above.
Q: I'd like to know the due diligence that ICONOMI take before making any investment via Pinta - specifically I'd like to know what thought/reasoning went into the investment in Musiconomi? Is association with CoFound.it enough to secure a Pinta investment or do you see some long term play there? Major record labels are typically very slow to react - I'd imagine real disruption wont come from a company that has "music" in their name.
A: Hello benjaminbrick. Regarding Musiconomi, we cannot comment on Pinta investments on a deal-by-deal basis.
The art of early stage investment is understanding the business and people behind the project. Questions we ask when evaluating a project include: Are the founders in it for the right reasons? Does the project make sense in terms of marketing? Is the project technically feasible? There are no metrics involved in the process because early stage companies don’t have reliable metrics yet.
It is also important to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the blockchain world. We achieve this through great communication with ICO incubator Cofound.it and by meeting and speaking with other companies at conferences.
Q: Hello ICONOMI team. Great work so far on the platform, but we investors in ICN sometimes get the felling that you are neglecting ICN token a little. We get questions "what gives ICN value" or "why would I even buy ICN token since it's got no use" on this subreddit almost every day. How would you anwser that question and how do you see ICN moving forward in 2018 and beyond.
A: Hello lakopy. The parameters of the ICN token have not changed since the ICO and remain as promised in the original whitepaper and explained in several AMAs and blog posts. The buyback program and the vote on the service operator are the direct implementations of the whitepaper promise. We have also gone forward with the utility of the ICN token, as previously explained. What made us one of the most successful projects in 2016 continues to hold true in 2017 and will continue to hold true in 2018.
Q: After the Parity incident you have stated that all users’ digital assets stored on the platform are completely safe, and the functioning of the platform is unaffected. However, some of the company’s assets were stored using the affected Parity multi-sig contract and will remain inaccessible until the situation is resolved.
You have stated that you still hold and can access funds that are worth 85m USD.
Both lost 38M USD of ETH and the remaining 85M USD numbers seem to come from the ICONOMI balance sheet section of your Q3 report. CCP Pinta value is also included there and the amount is equal to CCPs assets under management.
Can you shed some light into what you consider as "users' assets" and what you consider as "company's assets", because there is no clear distinction between the two in your report. How much of these assets are users' and how much belongs to the company? Do you have a clear distinction between assets invested for profit and assets company is using for operational expenses? Do you consider assets gathered by ICN ICO as users' assets or company assets?
A: Hello IReadErgoSum. The distinction between user assets and company assets is simple: user assets are any assets transferred to the platform by a user, and company assets are the assets ICONOMI received during the ICO. Because all the company’s assets are available for operational expenses, we do not distinguish between invested assets and assets used for operational expenses.
Q: Hi! Which legal entity will hold licence for providing fiat gateway on the Iconomi platform. Iconomi Inc. or some other?
A: Hello lakopy. The license will be held by a daughter company of ICONOMI that is currently being established.
Q: Hello, good job with the progress of the platform and scaling the company. But help me to understand one thing: why profits (of sold tokens you received from hardforks and airdrops) are not used for buybacks (BCH, OMG)? Iconomi had about 1000-1500 BTC in Pinta, received same amount of BCH and sold it, which means at least something out of it should go to profit. Same goes to OMG airdrop.
In my opinion (as investor) in case of hardforks and airdrops 100% of profits should be used to buybacks, as a best representation of investors interests (there are more than 70% of uninvested assets in the Pinta). do you consider that to put in practice in near future (one of next hardfork/airdrop)?
Edit: updated what was lost in translation (thanks to jesusthatsgreat who pointed it out)
A: Hello UnforgettableSandbox. The digital assets that ICONOMI DAAs receive via hard forks and airdrops are not sold for a profit. These assets are either converted into the digital assets that make up the DAA and distributed across the structure or, as with Pinta and Bitcoin Cash, added to the structure as a new investment.
Q: What keeps you, the employers of Iconomi, working on Iconomi? In other words, what is it that keeps you motivated to keep up the work for the platform?
A: Hello Dogephone. In addition to the vision of ICONOMI—bringing together the old and the new economy—the ICONOMI team is comprised of the best people anyone could hope to work with. In this early stage of blockchain, the field attracts the brightest and most intelligent people who are all extremely passionate about their work. It is a field that changes constantly, which gives room for constant improvement and growth, both on the personal and professional levels of each individual working here. The work is never boring because there are many challenges to overcome and unknowns to figure out. Doing this in a team of like-minded, highly motivated people who are passionate about their work is a once-in-a-lifetime experience..

And please check the links on the right before submitting your post.
Feel free to submit your questions to this thread and upvote/downvote other users’ questions!

Thank you all for your questions! Here is a summary of our October AMA:

Q: Regarding AUM in the ICONOMI platform: Do you believe $200 million AUM is still possible (excluding assets deposited in wallets and PINTA DAA)? If yes, how much AUM are you expecting to have in the platform by the end of 2017 (excluding assets deposited in BTC, ETH, ICN, CFI wallets and PINTA DAA)? Could you please share with us your AUM estimates for 2018? a) $AUM < $1B b) $1B < $AUM < $5B c) $5B < $AUM
A: Hi flyingbits. Thanks for the question. Yes, in this rapidly evolving field, $200 million AUM is very possible, and we expect to reach it by the end of 2017.
We think the cryptoeconomy will grow exponentially in 2018 as more and more capital flows into it, and ICONOMI as a market leader will set new benchmarks in several metrics, AUM included.
Q: As you´ve employed an Android Developer, I´m guessing there will be an Android app too in future. Is there any vague timeline for that?
A: Hello Nachbar90, and thanks for your question. Good guess—the ICONOMI Android app has officially been released today! Right now, you can use the app to track the performance of DAAs you’re invested or interested in. The app is undergoing continuous development, and the next milestone will be allowing registration, logging in, and viewing your portfolio directly in the app (like the iOS app).
Q: In his recent article, Tim Zagar has mentioned ICONOMI is a European company and argues that "The European regulatory framework is fertile and ideal for fostering this new paradigm of distributed innovation. The EU's passporting system allows international cooperation and trade between EU financial companies with a minimum of regulatory burden." In a previous AMA, Jani has stated that ICONOMI Inc is incorporated in St Vincent and the Grenadines which is contrary to Mr. Zagar's statement and argument (how could EU's regulatory framework boost St Vincent based company's business as opposed to a business located in EU, US or any other part of the world?). ICONOMI's funding video shows that EUR were transacted using SEPA to a what looks like Czech republic or Slovakia based bank account, so a company or a person had to be located in EU to receive these founds. Jani claims ICONOMI is talking with government of Slovenia about possible legislation, but Slovenia's financial watch dog says ICONOMI is Czech republic based company Cashila OOD s.r.o. and warns investors that it has no license to operate an investment fund in Slovenia or EU. Can you provide the information about the company operating ICONOMI, it's name, address, company number, place of incorporation, jurisdiction, responsible persons, with a 3rd party verifiable source, such as official business registry and provide the name of the company that was on the receiving end of September 2016 SEPA transfers and how that money has been moved into the company that currently operates ICONOMI?
A: As previously explained, ICONOMI is a blockchain company. Until direct implementation is possible, the concept of service operators is required. We (the current team) are the first service operator of ICONOMI. In order to function in a world that is not yet tokenized, the service operator manifests itself as a company by acquiring corporate personhood, meaning it can own tangible and intangible assets, sue or be sued, acquire licenses, etc. For the time being, ICONOMI Inc. is incorporated in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, but we are in the process of moving to another jurisdiction. An official statement will be published when appropriate.
Cashila OOD s.r.o. has nothing to do with ICONOMI. We considered using it as a service operator but decided against it for several reasons. Instead, ICONOMI was simply a user of Cashila, which was a payment processor licensed by the Czech National Bank. The services Cashila offered to ICONOMI were the same services offered to everyone else who used Cashila.
Q: ICONOMI has announced that ICNX and ICNP will be managed by Igor Erker, "a veteran investment manager with an exemplary track record." In this thread we have seen that funds managed by mr. Erker's were performing under comparable indices with MP-Balkan.si fund (ISIN SI0021400021) loosing over 47% during Mr. Erker's management period and that he was claiming the market growth is strong just weeks before the financial meltdown of 2007-2008, strongly misjudging the market. We have also seen that mr. Erker's partner and co-founder at that time, Mr. Pusnik has according to Slovenian media operated the biggest Ponzi scheme in Slovenia and is #1 on Slovenian IRS wanted list, owing 25.9M EUR. Mr. Erker responded with a cynical comment, saying his track record can be verified using Bloomberg Professional, service that starts at $2000 a month and is obviously out of reach for most if not all ICNX/ICNP investors. At the same time he provided no ISIN codes of his funds or other verifiable sources. Can you explain on what basis you entrust our assets to Mr. Erker and provide verifiable proof of what you called "a veteran investment manager with an exemplary track record.", such as the list of funds he managed, together with ISIN codes, his role and start/end of his involvement. Can Mr. Erker's explain on what terms he parted Medvesek Pusnik and what was the nature of his involvement in Mr. Pusnik's later ventures?
A: We would appreciate if we could stick to the facts. First, the Medium announcement of our partnership with Columbus Capital states the following: “We are appointing Columbus Capital, an asset management company specialising in global emerging markets and strategic investing in both traditional and alternative funds, to manage ICONOMI’s existing DAAs (ICNX and ICNP).” Columbus Capital, not Igor Erker personally, was appointed to manage the two DAAs. Jani Valjavec, cofounder of ICONOMI, joined Columbus Capital as a senior advisor and primarily oversees blockchain-related investments.
Second, personal questions about Mr. Erker should be addressed to him directly at [email protected]. ICONOMI’s mission is to build a bridge between the old and the new economy. Mr. Erker is extremely experienced and has managed several asset management companies very successfully. His addition to Columbus Capital is vital: he will lead Columbus Capital, execute Blockchain.ONE, and develop products that have yet to be announced. For questions regarding Mr, Pusnik, you should contact Mr. Pusnik directly, as he has absolutely no connection or relevance to ICONOMI, Columbus Capital, or Mr. Erker.
Q: When will a API or detailed page be available to see live DAA data? (current AUM, weights and profits)
A: Hello ThaClown, and thank you for your question. We are planning to release the API, with full documentation, in Q1 2018. More detailed DAA data will be available on the platform in the coming weeks.
Q: Among the most spoken languages in the world (both as native + second language) are: Chinese: 1.09 billion people; English: 983 million; Hindi: 544 million; Spanish: 527 million; ....
Coinbase web is translated into 10 different languages, which allows easy access to the platform to a great % of the world population.
Is ICONOMI planning to traslate into different languages the platform near-mid term? Will Iconomi target all the markets worldwide or just English speaking markets?
A: Hello flyingbits. Thanks for your question. Given the decentralized nature and wide geographical distribution of blockchain technology, providing accessibility in multiple languages is a good idea, but localization requires several resource-intensive steps, such as hiring an extended support team. Our focus for the time being remains primarily on building and improving the technology and product.
Q: APX Ventures just dropped their policy on buybacks citing "legal consultation" and their token suddenly has zero utility - how safe is the Iconomi buybacks system?
A: Hello ion-tom, and thank you for your question. Without knowing the legal and jurisdictional details behind APX Ventures’ decision to cancel their buyback program, we cannot comment on their situation. We have no plans to change our buyback system now or in the future. The burn contract is publicly viewable here.
Q: We created this website : iconostat.com People seem to like it a lot on reddit and on slack. But the information might be a little wrong. I would like to work with you to provide real information if you don't have time to provide it. The best way would be to do an API that we could use. So when are you going to release the API and would it be possible to talk with you 1 hour to improve our numbers while waiting for it ? Thanks ! (I don't only want a deadline for the API, I really would like to know what we could do while waiting for it to provide good ressources to the community)
A: Hello aang-, and thanks for your question. We’re not surprised people like Iconostat—we like it a lot too. We’re happy to discuss improvements and ideas for your project. Please send us an email at [email protected] to talk further. Great job!
Q: Is there a specific reason why cryptos such as XRP, BCH, NEO, or LTC are not featured in BLX or any of the DAAs, even though they have some of the highest market caps in crypto? Or is it simply that none of the DAA managers sees these as profitable?
A: Hi Splifferella, and thanks for your question. DAA managers can only choose coins supported on the ICONOMI platform. We are working to add new coins on a regular basis, and each new coin is required to meet specific inclusion criteria. Because security is our main concern, the primary criterion for inclusion is the availability of multisig cold storage. For coins that do not support multisig cold storage natively, we develop it ourselves.
Q: Does ICONOMI have any safety procedure when it wants to realise profits? (For example at specific ROI's) For example ICONOMI bought alot of Byteball for less than 20$, and Byteball went up to 920$. This is insane ROI and if ICONOMI didn't sell at those prices not a single Byteball this concerns me.
A: Hi investmox, and thank you for your question. Byteball was airdropped, and we received nearly 10 percent of the initial distribution free of charge. As mentioned in our Q2 financial report, we closed about a third of our Byteball position in Q2, leading to a realized profit of over 3,000 ether.
Q: Is BLX going to be updated in any way soon? The BLX portfolio isn't reflective of the current state of crypto anymore and is more of what crypto looked like 7 months ago. There are a lot of major players missing, and some coins included are no longer very relevant. In this fast changing industry, how will you guys plan to adapt to it?
A: Hi Astrocat15, and thank you for your question. This question is more appropriate for Columbus Capital. Note that Columbus Capital is limited to selecting coins supported on the ICONOMI platform, as mentioned in this answer.
Q: Your Pinta fund holds quite a bit of Lisk. With 1 LSK you could vote 33 pool delegates that share their earnings with their voters. Will you be doing this?
That 1 LSK investment can bring in thousands of lisk in the coming months while they are just idly sitting in the Pinta fund...
A: Hello GurneyHalleck, and thanks for your question. ICONOMI’s number-one priority is the safety and security of our users’ digital assets. While theoretically possible, staking users’ coins would complicate the comprehensive security procedures we have in place. We are also in extensive communication with a large number of institutional investors, who, like ICONOMI, are extremely cautious when it comes to the safety of their assets. Adding complexity to our security management would be a deterrent for these investors.
Q: A few days ago I had dinner with a lawyer from one of the biggest firms in the world. I sat with him and showed him the ICONOMI app. He was looking at BLX and was unable to scroll to previous performance, unable to view by 1m, 1y, all return. It was kinda embarrassing that the app doesn't have such simple functionality. I know you guys are working hard but would like to know when these things that are not on the roadmap (fiat gateway, platform launch, daa on traditional exchanges) will come?
A: Hello ben_not_ben, and thanks for your question. ICONOMI is a huge project. Some parts can be developed in parallel, and some cannot. While it is absolutely necessary to design a roadmap for core features, core-dependent parts can be built and released independently, but never before core features. The iOS app in particular is constantly being updated, and we plan to add all main features of the web platform before the end of 2017. If you wait until a release is perfect, you’ll never release it.
Q: Related to transparency and trust; when you are managing other people's money, both T&T are a key factors in order to attract and keep the users and investors.
1- What actions have you already done/are you doing near-mid term to increase project transparency & trust; both towards investors and/or platform users?
2- Are you planning to publish an audited annual report for the 2017 fiscal year?
3- Is Iconomi team going to disclose their holdings of ICN tokens as it was stated during the ICO?
4- Is a third party doing an audit of the assets stored in the platform and the info breaken off by DAA? If yes, how often will it be published? If no, how are you going to prove the real existence of the assets held stores in the platform?
Thank you in advance.
A: Hello flyingbits, and thanks for your question (but try to be mindful of our one post, one question rule in future!). In addition to continuing to publish our regular reports and monthly AMA sessions, we are working toward having our financial reports independently audited by a Big Four accounting firm. We are considering exposing some of our platform data in real time, such as total assets under management, total number of tokens, and total users. We are founding members of Project Transparency, an industry-led self-governance initiative to improve transparency and accountability in the blockchain space.
Q: How would you handle a sudden influx in user sign-up, volume and support requests. We have seen how Poloniex has lost a lot of credibility by taking months to reply to support requests as well as freezing accounts with no explanation. Could you clarify what kind of framework you have in place currently to handle support requests and how you plan to scale this in the future?
For example: 'currently we have x employees and can handle x amount of service requests per day'. If we had x amount of users, we would hire x amount of customer service reps who would take x amount of days/weeks to train and would be able to handle x amount of users'. Could you please clarify by giving us an idea like the example above?
A: Hello itrade9. Thanks for your question. Having experienced a large influx of support requests following the launch of the platform, we have streamlined and improved our approach in several ways:
  1. Onboarding: We have begun implementing an alternative way to verify users that does not require extended waiting periods.
  2. Knowledge sharing: We are in the process of reviewing, updating, and expanding our knowledge base. This should help lower the number of support requests we receive.
  3. Improved information gathering: We will be implementing specialized support request forms that outline the information required for common types of support requests, lowering the amount of back-and-forth communication that is sometimes necessary when users submit incomplete information.
  4. Monitoring and automation: We are building a system to notify us immediately when problems arise. This will enable us to anticipate and resolve support requests before we even receive them. We are also working on automating solutions for some of the most common support requests.
Our ultimate goal is to have 24/7 support in all time zones. For the time being, we are able to respond to most support requests within twenty-four hours. We also have additional support agents on standby for temporary heavy increases in support tickets.
Q: In 2017 you'll release the DAAs to the public. What will you be working on in 2018?
A: Hello Justinformation, and thanks for your question. A road map is an extensive document that deserves a lot of thought and planning. At the end of the year, we will be publishing a wrap-up of 2017, along with a preview of our road map for 2018.
Q: Iconomi's office address is not listed on the website nor on any official communication channel i.e. email, facebook, twitter etc..
Iconomi also doesn't appear to have a Google business listing and no presence on Google Maps etc...
Is there a specific reason for this?
A: Hi jesusthatsgreat, and thanks for the question. ICONOMI is a blockchain company, and we operate with the concept of a service operator only because of the current restraints of the world’s legal systems. We are digital and decentralized—ICONOMI’s team spans the entire world, so there is no single address.
Q: Can you publish the team token allocation and release dates of the remaining batches?
Question was asked and massaged in previous AMA: https://www.reddit.com/ICONOMI/comments/6zt5pg/iconomi_september_2017_reddit_ama/dn1u36v/
The answer Fruchty provided was evasive. We are all aware of the ICO tokens distribution. Please answer about the team 8M tokens distribution and do not count it as one of the 20 questions, since it was asked in a clear way the previous AMA. Thank you
A: Hello Daparski. Thanks for your question. Due to the clear security and privacy risks involved, we will not disclose any more details regarding individual team members’ token allocations.
Q: When (aprox) and how will ICO-investing from DAA´s be realized? Will this only happen in synergy with Cofound.it or will other ICO´s also be supported?
A: Hello Nachbar90, and thank you for your question. You are correct: we will roll out this feature in cooperation with Cofound.it first, running several pilot projects (Aragon being the first). Later, when the system is tried and tested, we will include other, non-Cofound.it ICOs.
Q: Will there be the possibility for DAA managers to temporarily move funds out of crypto into fiat via USDT or similar?
A: Hi Nachbar90. Thank you for your question. Moving DAAs into fiat may be possible as early as this year.

2017.09.27 16:02 brunotaut 186 photo editing tools and apps. The biggest list ever existed

Hey, photo lovers
Thanks to Everyone! This huge list is possible because of your help.
Short story behind the list: This post is a continuation of my previous three posts, dedicated to photo editing tools. I started this research for my project Photolemur in July 2016.
First list was '61 Photo Editing Tools and Apps'. After this first post in 2016, I got a lot of suggestions from redditors and decided to complete another list 104 Photo Editing Tools You Should Know About.
Then Michael Zhang, asked me to repost this list on Petapixel. The article got 5,419 shares and tons of comments with a new portion of great tools for photo editing. The next list comes with 148 photo editing tools.
Now, after 10 months have passed, I’ve got additional portion of photo editing tools and decided to publish a new huge list of the photo editing tools and apps.

Thank you all for your questions! Here is a summary of our September AMA:

Q: Can you share some ideas to utility of the ICN-token other than the voting of service providers and to create your own DAA?
A: Hi Carzas. Thanks for your question. We will fully define the utility of ICN once DAAs have been launched. As you mentioned, we foresee ICN being used to stake DAA creation, and any premium services we add to the platform will be payable exclusively in ICN (such as ICN holders being able to invest in ICOs from the platform, tokenizing DAAs, featuring your DAA on the platform and ICONOMI website, etc.). We are also considering ideas from the ICONOMI community, but we cannot provide any specifics at this time. As we stated in the July AMA, our current milestones are as follows: make it possible for users to create and test their own DAAs; make the platform and DAAs available to everyone; fiat gateway for direct entry with fiat money.
Q: We've recently seen the price of ICN drop sharply despite no real change in fundamentals. Whilst this is a bad thing for an ICN holder's paper wealth in the short term, obviously it's a good thing long term in that the lower the price, the more ICN can be bought and burned through buybacks. However, Iconomi are currently limited to buying & burning only what they declare in quarterly reports.
Would Iconomi consider (or have they already considered) introducing a policy whereby they'd reserve the right to buy & burn ICN should the price drop below a certain range using a documented formula?
For example if price to book ratio drops below 1.3 for 24 hours or more and Iconomi have more than $10m uninvested assets at hand, Iconomi would reserve the right to buy and burn ICN up to that ratio. It's a basic formula / example and I'm sure it could be debated at length and strengthened (it's a policy Buffet famously uses) but given the volatile / irrational nature of the crypto market, I feel it's quite possible ICN could be severely undervalued by the market for short periods of time and it would be prudent to have some sort of policy in place which gives Iconomi the option to seize upon these opportunities (more than regular buybacks allow for) and return maximum value to long term investors.
A: Hello jesusthatsgreat. Thank you for your comment about our fundamentals, which as you correctly assessed are only improving with recent development, our constantly growing team, and successful post-release numbers (in the month of August, over $100M in digital assets were deposited to the platform, and $8.2M was invested in BLX). As you know, Warren Buffett is the most successful investor in history, thanks to his deep market understanding. Companies buying their own stock is a well-known and established mechanism. For example, Apple has been called a “buyback monster” https://www.cnbc.com/2017/05/03/apple-has-been-a-buyback-monster.html. If the financial indicators are right for ICONOMI to buy tokens, we of course reserve the right to do so. We believe this is the best way to serve our investors.
Q: What is the road map with dates for ICN ?
A: Hello midoprince. Thanks for your question. As ICN is burned every quarter, the next ICN burn will happen at the beginning of October. The next major milestone for ICN will be voting, which will happen in October 2018. More details about voting will be available in Q3 2018. We are also, of course, developing the utility functions of ICN.
Q: Tim & Jani - some of the supporters seem to think that ICONOMI might suddenly decide to stop giving back 20% Pinta profit, 3% management fee from BLX, and fee from forthcoming user created Digital Asset Arrays. Could you please say once and for all that they are wrong and that as long as ICONOMI is in business it will always deliver excess profits back to its investors in whichever way currently makes sense (e.g Buybacks and burns / Dividends / etc)?
A: Hello buyaugur, and thank you for your question. Suggestions that ICONOMI might suddenly change its fundamentals, such as no longer giving back profits, are outright lies spread by people we definitely wouldn’t call supporters. The 20% Pinta profits, 3% BLX management fee, and fees related to user-created DAAs will always remain in the hands of ICN token holders, as we have stated numerous times. We have always developed and delivered what we have promised and will continue to do so.
Q: Almost 30 people in your payroll at the moment but no one to take care of communications, one full year after ICO... Your last monthly report was quite horrible and is raising more questions than giving information. - Q: Why haven't you hired marketing personnel already?
A: Hi cryptohustla, and thanks for your question. We aim to expand our company and business by means of organic growth as well as strategic buys and/or mergers in the future. There are several segments regarding marketing that need to be addressed appropriately and strategically, since ICONOMI marketing needs to incorporate in-depth communication and build relationships with DAA managers, DAA investors, and ICONOMI users. In the last couple of weeks we have been working intensely to further elaborate on each of these segments, directly working with potential DAA managers to help them create attractive and versatile DAAs. Our primary focus has been on launching the DAA platform; once the DAA platform is released in full, we will start focusing on outside marketing and promotion. A house is always built from the ground up, not the other way around.
Q: The original whitepaper stated:
Is this still a valid and accurate description of what ICN represents?
A: Hello jesusthatsgreat. Thanks for the question. As already mentioned today, we have always stood behind what we communicate. To state this again: yes, this is a valid and accurate description of what the ICONOMI token represents. However, I would kindly direct you to my post on Medium, “Legal - part 1” (https://medium.com/iconominet/legal-part-1-42fa72e1f157), which is still relevant. I would in particular like to point out the discrepancy between our vision and the actual state of legislation around the world today. ICONOMI is a company built by visionaries and future-thinkers. I believe that in the future, the statement you have quoted will stand directly—tokens will significantly change how we perceive personal and public ownership, physical and abstract. Everyone in the blockchain field is working toward this goal of making the world a better place in ways unimaginable before blockchain technology. But we are not there yet, which is why it is important that you also understand the concept of service operators. Until blockchain finds its place, which we know is only a matter of time, we are forced to build constructs that help us use it today. For example, we all know USB-C is the future, but it will take some time before all peripherals integrate it. Until then, we are forced to use adapters. They are not perfect, but they work.
Q: Is fiat coming this year?
A: Hi lokvent, and thanks for your question. There are a lot of legal hurdles involved with incorporating a fiat gateway into the platform, but we are progressing nicely with our banking partners. As we mentioned in a previous answer and in the July AMA, these are currently the three upcoming major milestones: make it possible for users to create and test their own DAAs; make the platform and DAAs available to everyone; fiat gateway for direct entry with fiat money. Quality is always our top priority, and we hold all of our products to the highest standard. As we are focused on launching a great DAA platform in 2017, the public release of the fiat gateway may happen in 2018.
Q: I have two simple proposal to fix all the FUD. My first will give ICN token a minimal value bellow which it cannot fall. My second will drive ICN price up like crazy. My question is: Do you accept these two proposals - now - or will we fix a date - now - so that we can all vote on those decisions? Let me start by saying that your decision to change the dividend system into a buyback one was a great decision. So great maybe that you allowed yourself - the managing team - to make it an official change without the vote of the major owner of Iconomi, us, shareholder. I totally approve the buyback, as it is genius once understood. The proper form though would have been through a vote. Let bypass be bypass, but it should not become a habit. We have a voting right. As per the original contract, aka the whitepaper at the time of the ICO: "100% of the ICONOMI tokens represent 100% ownership of the ICONOMI platform, comprising of all assets, ...". I'd like to base my first proposal on this basis. At the beginning, your raised $10,576,227 from us to build the ICNP fund, now named CCP. Therefore at the beginning - in real/direct money term - 100% of ICN = 100% of ICNP/CCP. Obviously today ICN is worth much much more than simply the AUM of CCP. But there is no obvious minimal value of the ICN token today, beside the free market exchanges. So my first proposal is to guarantee ICN token to be *at least worth the total of CCP AUM. Concretely it means to allow any % holder of ICN to withdraw that same % of the various AUM of the CCP fund. It is only fair, because as per contract, we own them. BUT I'd like to underline that it is not to the advantage of anyone of doing so (it is obvious I hope + numbers to follow). I am only asking for the possibility, as I am convinced this possibility will strengthen everyone's view of the ICN token actual value. Today ICN marketcap is $157,427,966. ICNP/CCP AUM was valued ~a third of that at the end of Q2, $44,656,549. Which is worth way more by now. A minimal direct guaranteed liquid value of the ICN token would be welcome in everyone's heart I suppose. ICNX/BLX has no utility as a token, but it is irrelevant to everyone thanks to it's guaranteed liquidity. My second proposal - which has already been suggested by others on this reddit - is to force every DAA to be funded by ICN exclusively. The buy pressure for ICN would become crazy, but mostly: real and lasting. For it to work with maximum fluidity, ICN should be available to buy on iconomi website. An ICN<->fiat exchange is a must. Once funded with ICN, the DAA fund should be expressed in USD. Ideally iconomi website would also become a general exchange, so as to provide the best way for these USD to be transformed into the various asset one DAA manager desire. That sounds like a dream, but with 20 employee and a lot of cash to employ more, it is certainly feasible. In any case a discussion and a vote is not much to ask regarding the seriousness of the matter. Big bonus n°1: The various fees of an exchange à-la-coinbase could be added to CCP (increasing the guaranteed minimal value of ICN), or be used to increase ICN burn. Big bonus n°2: Were a team member with millions of ICN wish to cash out, those ICN could be sold to the future DAA managed (who might want to invest big to attract big). That being done without dropping ICN price on the market. I tend to believe that in the future, the simple buyback system (would have been?) will be enough to sustain and drive ICN price up, but the crypto asset world move fast. Therefore today we need a guaranteed minimal value, and a lasting buy pressure based on more than a simple investment with hope of a future ROI. At the extreme minimum, we have a say in those things, through that promised voting system. Thanks for your time and feedback.
A: Hello panonym. Thanks for your questions and your interesting proposals. As we stated in our original whitepaper and all related communication that followed, voting regarding the service operator will be implemented in October 2018. Due to very high transaction costs, it is impossible to implement a voting system on a micromanagement level and efficiently run a company.
Q: There's confusion if BLX has been rebalanced anymore or not. Is it still done monthly and if so, why not sending information about this to both ICN and BLX investors?
A: Hello cryptohustla, and thanks for your question. We have been working on developing and integrating our new trading engine with additional functionalities (such as the best execution algorithm), and this has been our focus over the past month. Because the structure was still well balanced, we postponed rebalancing until we were able to use our new trading engine to do so.
Q: How soon can we expect some news regarding the beta-users DAA? Days, weeks or months?
A: Hi Carzas. Thanks for your question. We are excited to announce that we’ll be presenting the first round of DAA managers in the next few weeks. We have received a lot of applications for the DAA manager position, including some big, well-known institutional managers from the old economy. Information on investing in these new DAAs will be available soon after. This is a major step for the DAA platform, and we are very excited to enable users to invest in custom DAAs for the first time in the crypto space.
Q: Are you in talks with any institutional investors to make a DAA or invest in BLX?
A: Hello Carzas, thanks for your question. Yes, we are in communication with a number of institutional investors, and have been since the beginning of the year. Family offices are the fastest to move, and new investment will begin flowing from them first. Institutional investors want trust, professionalism, an easy-to-use platform, and the option to use fiat—and this is what we will give them.
Q: Are you aiming to list the Blockchain.ONE on a stock exchange like an ETF (Exchange traded fund), or will you register it as a typical mutual fund, that is not exchange traded?
A: Blockchain.ONE will be managed by Columbus Capital. Questions about Blockchain.ONE can be directed to https://www.columbuscapital.com.
Q: Don't you think you should engage more in interaction with the community?
A: Hello napits, and thanks for your question. Yes, you’re right! We are working toward more interaction with the community in addition to our monthly reports and AMAs. However, our focus has always been on the product, and with the rapid growth of our team is now also on internal organization, which will in turn improve outward communication. As mentioned previously, our primary goal is the launch of the DAA platform in 2017, and all our focus is dedicated to reaching this goal. This includes delegating our marketing and communication resources primarily to helping DAA managers promote their DAAs and to presenting ICONOMI to entities such as family offices and asset management companies, which we have identified as our current target group, as described in our previous AMAs.
Q: Why have you moved 13 mio team ICN tokens from private wallet to the platform wallet?
A: Hi paxxil. Thanks for your question. ICONOMI was the first crypto project to vest tokens after its ICO. This means a certain amount of tokens were reserved for distribution to the team. Of the 13M vested tokens, 8M were reserved for the existing team, 2M for advisors, and 3M for future team members. The terms are a twenty-four-month vesting period with a six-month cliff (a cliff is the amount of time an employee must remain with the company before being eligible to begin receiving the tokens reserved for them). The first six-month cliff has already passed, which is why the tokens have been moved.
Q: In August AMA this important question was asked:
Related Question: Can you explain how your 2000 ETH investment in Santiment presale yielded fewer SAN tokens than it was supposed to yield according to Santiment Pre-sale terms. Pre-sale terms seem to suggest a 54% bonus, so that leaves 1,080,000 SAN unaccounted for. I'm asking how is it possible that pre-sale partnership yielded fewer tokens than it was supposed to, what further steps want Iconomi team take to prevent this situation from repeating again and most importantlywhat happened with 1,080,000 missing SAN.
A: Hello karotkason. Thanks for your question. We invested 2,000 ETH (not 2,200, as some users have stated) in the Santiment pre-sale. Because the pre-sale took place when ETH was ~$12USD, Santiment was hesitant to provide large bonuses. Because of ETH’s rapid appreciation (ETH was ~$270USD during the crowdsale), adding bonuses in addition to the large discount pre-sale participants were already getting would have resulted in far fewer tokens available to investors during the crowdsale. To avoid weeks of negotiation and enable the Santiment team to start work on the project immediately instead of dealing with calculating bonuses, ICONOMI chose to forego the bonus, as did other large investors.
Q: I guess this question is about security, and best practices. Can you talk us through the internal procedures that you have for tokens that are in both BLX and Pinta? For instance - you purchased 1.5m ANT at ICO for Pinta, and ANT (Aragon) is also in BLX. Without knowing the individual wallet addresses for each of your assets there is no way to tell if assets are being sold from the Pinta wallet, directly into the BLX wallet? Can you give us some reassurance on how you deal with these overlapping tokens?
A: Hello buyaugur, and thank you for your question. We are working on a blog post that will outline how we securely store our assets and our methods for cold storage. Because security is our highest priority, we can’t share information about security procedures for tokens in both BLX and Pinta. In the future, we’ll be able to share the structure and possibly our security procedures if we can determine that this won’t pose any security issues. However, due to social engineering risks, we will never reveal the identities of the key-holders.
Q: Congratulations on BLX. We have watched the large number of transactions every day on the Slack and pleased to see it working so well! If it is true that the following (https://etherscan.io/address/0x687aeda127fd2bd4f374c73e3724bf9b7c7a6b9c) is your BLX eth wallet could you explain why such a little amount leaves the wallet? Are you purchasing BLX assets via a separate wallet?
A: Hi buyaugur. Thank you for your question and your support. We use a system of multiple hot and cold wallets for asset management and safekeeping. This address does not hold BLX exclusively, but we cannot disclose in detail which addresses we use at this time. In the future, we’ll be able to share the structure and possibly our security procedures if we can determine that this won’t pose any security issues.
Q: Can you provide specific details on the utility of ICN including the amount of ICN required to create/invest in a DAA, ICN required for "other actions on the platform", etc.? I know you read these threads and see the significant amount of distress your silence on this topic is creating. I also understand the Iconomi team has the incentive to maximize the value of ICN. What I have trouble grasping is why you make the clear to choice to ignore these questions.
A: Hi ETHTrader9999. Thank you for your question. Please see our answer to this question here.
Q: Can you publish the team tokens allocation and dates of batches release?
A: Hi Daparski. Thanks for your question. After the ICONOMI ICO ended in October 2016, 100 million ICN tokens were issued. 85 million of these tokens were distributed to ICO participants during the crowd sale, and a further 2 million were used for early-stage marketing and bounties. Of the remaining 13 million tokens, 2 million were distributed to advisors, 8 million were distributed to the ICONOMI team, and 3 million were reserved for future team members. The 8 million tokens distributed to the team are vested over 2 years.
Q: In previous Ama's you stated you do not actively look for exchanges. Some people say the iconomi team does this to keep ICN's price low so you can perform more buybacks. Is there any specific reasoning not actively looking for exchanges to list ICN, like the one stated before?
A: Hello phLe7fl, and thanks for your question. ICONOMI is and always has been focused on long-term viability and sustainable, organic growth. As you know, the ICONOMI team holds a substantial amount of ICN and has a direct incentive to help it grow, and we are in no way attempting to keep the ICN price down. However, we do not believe that the best way to achieve organic growth is by overhyping our products, as some companies do. The best use of company resources is to continue building on and improving the platform.

2017.02.09 05:24 GonzoMojo Hazardous Work Environment Part 3 - Woeful Wednesday (2/?)

Prievous Part
I am going to post all parts to TFTS, after I complete it....with the proper titles...
I don't quite make it to the car before my phone rings, it's the BT so I answer it as I get in the car.
Me: You got ITGuy, how can I help you this morning?
BT: I was just told, by a very mad woman, that they are missing days of work at CityHall.
Me: Ya, I need to put bigger sings on things, SoftwareRep pulled the server, thinking it was a workstation we missed. He 'cleaned' it up like he's been directed so they don't have the last two days files at CityHall.
BT: He cleaned it? Did he delete their files?
Me: Yes, but...
I hear curse words, it's odd that BT uses curse words, but he ends the rant rather quickly.
Me: BUUUUTT....there is a backup he didn't know was there, so it's all good. I'm on the way to the site now.
BT: Ok, keep me posted. Bye.
He hangs up, so I drop the phone in the rack, and start the car. The drive to CityHall is very dull, couple school buses and tractors are the highlights.
When I arrive at CityHall, I don't see the SoftwareReps vehicle, so I pull into a parking spot and look up his number.
Me: Hey, this is ITGuy, where are you? You're at CityHall already right?
SoftwareRep: Nah, I'm down at the diner eating breakfast, I wasn't going in that place alone, are you crazy?
I count to 10, I get to seven...
SoftwareRep: with a mouthful of something You there?
Me: Yes, I'm here...
SoftwareRep: When will you be at CityHall?
Me: I'm in the parking lot now...waiting on your...you.
He drops the phone and the call end, i call him back but it goes to voicemail.
I get out and head inside, like a brave little indian, or a stupid whiteman, I wasn't really sure at the time.
Inside I see two angry faces and some that look annoyed at my arrival. I walk up to the front counter and offer them my best smile.
Me: The data is on the way, there was some confusion about where the training server was located. It will be back shortly, no more than 15 minutes I hope.
CityAdmin: Why did the server get taken off? I thought you were going to leave it in place?
Me: I intended to do just that, but there was some miscommunication with the SoftwareRep, and he thought it was a workstation that we left behind by accident. So he took it with him when he left for the day.
CityAdmin: It's my understanding that you weren't happy that we didn't want to use your workstation as the server yesterday?
That's something I was expecting him to say...
Me: I didn't want them to swap the machine out mid afternoon while it was in use, if they want us to restore the good data to a CityTech workstation, I don't have a problem with that.
CityAdmin: Restore? Did something happen to the data on the training server?
Now at this point, I'm wondering what the hell this is about, he seemed to latch onto that Restore comment.
Me: I meant, we'd set the data up on the computer you want to use as the training server. We can continue using the one we provided, or you can use one of the computers that were brought yesterday, or we can put the files on the City Server in place of the files from last week. Which we will need to do at some point anyways, unless you plan on keying everything back in..
SantaMarie: Oh, we already decided to do that, your Software guy said he was going to erase that machine he took yesterday. But you're saying now that the data is fine?
Sometimes it's best to burn it with fire, sow the ground with salt, and put up signs warning people away...
Me: Yes, he wiped the server when he thought it was a workstation. Someone told him there was nothing on it worth keeping, and made sure he knew it was a workstation and not the server.
Out of the corner of my eye I see Pinta staring daggers at SantaMarie, then go back to punching in something at her computer.
SanatMarie with a smirk: So all the the stuff we did in the past week is gone...
I glance down expecting her to be tapping a foot, but she's not tapping....I look back up directly into her glare.
Me: While it's true that the data was 'erased'...
CityAdmin growls deep in his throat then paces back and forth for a second.
Me: While that is the case, the backups of the data are safe and sound on the backup drive in the computer that was acting as the training server.
CityAdmin: What does that mean?
Me: At worst, it will have an exact copy of the data an hour prior to closing. At best it will be up to date with close of business last night, at 5pm?
CityAdmin: 4:30, we stop transactions at 4:30pm....
Me: When did Software rep leave?
SantaMarie looks like a tea pot that is about to whistle, it seems she is not happy that the data is not missing. She opens her mouth to say something, then turns and stops away waving her arms at the others in the office.
Me: If the rep left after 4:30, you might have lost 30 minutes of work, but there is a good chance that will be one or two transactions I think.
CityAdmin is listening, but watching the ladies gathered in a huddle, he wipes his face and turns back to me.
CityAdmin: Ok, get them back up and working with whatever you have, and then let me know what was lost.
With that he turns and walks rather like an exhausted old man towards the doorway, he opens the door and then is gone. I see him moving with the same sedate pace across the reception area to the side hallway.
I look at my Emails and everything seems to be normal for a hump day, a cough startles me back to the room.
Pinta: SantaMarie told the guy to take that computer, she told him to wipe it when he asked, she said it was just a workstation you guys forgot.
I offer a lopsided grin, and thank her for the information, she turns back to her desk. I try to stay out of the way, and politely answer queries about when they will be up. I keep offering soon, but my soon turns the 15 minute corner and is heading downwards towards 30 before I know it.
I try calling SoftwareRep again, but he's not answering and leaving a voicemail doesn't appeal to me. I try texting him, and I wait for a response, none comes within a minute. I head over to the front counter, whispering a prayer that they have internet....and they do, so I log into our RepTracker to see where this numbskull is hiding.
I feel someone looking over my shoulder, that dull buzz of someone standing almost too close, and observing what your doing on the screen, I mentally curse as I work on finding his GPS code. Having found it, then finding his car, I see that he is in town. I zoom in and he's at a strip mall, I hit google earth and streetview, it's 3 years old but it shows the strip mall. I point at the spot on the Google Map with one finder while I look over my shoulder, it's SantaMarie, wonderful.
Me: What is in that strip mall that might be work related?
SantaMarie: Um see squints her eyes at the screen there a Mexican restaurant, and a radio gear, a cellphone store, and a Dollar Value store. Why?
Me: Because I've lost an idiot and he seems to have found that strip mall....I'll be right back.
As I head for the door, I notice she is following me, I stop and turn.
Me: Can I help you?
SantaMarie: Where are you going? We're not up and working yet....
I regret saying what comes out my mouth, and doing what my arms pull off without being connected to my brain.
Me: You have no customers yet, so there's not any harm of the system being down still...
If that was all I said, and did, I'd probably be OK, for the moment, but the arm's spread wave about the empty reception area attracts the attention of CityAdmin.
CityAdmin: as he strides up to us What's going on now?
SantaMarie: He's making fun of the fact that we're not up and running, and I think he's trying to leave.
Me: I was pointing out that nothing has been harmed by the system being down, no one has come in for anything this morning sa far. And I do need to run down the road to meet the SoftwareRep, but I will be right back.
It's almost painful turning to head for the door, I can hear SantaMarie talking rapidly to CityAdmin, I can feel the hand gestures at my back. I make it outside, and get to the car just as my phone rings once more. It's Big Tuna looking for an update....
8000+characters for tonight, more to come...

Hey photo lovers,
Thanks to everyone! This huge list is possible because of your help. A little story behind: This post is a continuation of my previous two posts, dedicated to photo editing tools. First of them was 61 Photo Editing Tools and Apps You Should Know About (Organized List). I started this research for my project Photolemur in July. I spent a lot of time on search and believed all these services might be useful
After that post I got a lot of suggestions from redditors and decided do write another post 104 Photo Editing Tools You Should Know About [Organized List]. 2016.09.25 18:19 supladoako Kanto Tinio

"Nagka-gerlpren kana men?"
"Hindi pa." Agaran kong sagot, kasabay ang pagtungga sa alak.
"Meaning Virgin kapa men!"
"Walang-hiya men, dapat talaga kapag kausap kita lagi akong may sipon."
"Hindi nga men, seryoso." Si Kid, ang pinakamatanda sa grupo. "No offense, virgin ka pa?"
"Bundok Arayat, nakakita kana?"
Iling.
"Kahit bermuda grass lang hindi kapa nakakita?"
Iling.
"Swerte mo my pren! kanina lang 'to! Mainit-init pa!"
"Patingin!"
"May request ako pre."
"Sure sige." ngisi nito. "Tawagan kita kapag meron."
"Hindi na kailangan Goms." Peke ko ng ngiti sabay lagok ng beer.
"Okay lang iyan men."
"Tangina ano 'to!"

2015.06.30 18:42 GonzoMojo Hazardous Work Environment Part 2 - Terrible Tuesday (3-3)

Story Index: Monday Part 1(1/2) - Monday Part 1(2/2) - Monday Part 1.5 - Tuesday Part 2 (1/3) - Tuesday Part 2 (2/3) - Tuesday Part 2 (3/3)
Back at the CityHall I was surprised to see the SoftwareRep working with Nina and SantaMaria on some stuff. Guy2 was still hanging around the server room door, paying more attention inside than the outer office area.
Me: Hey, how’s it going is the internet back yet?
Guy2: It will be back when it’s back, stop rushing me.
I lean and look in to see Guy1 sitting at their server, it’s not booted into Windows. He appears to be in a raid controller bios doing something. I turn and walk away, it’s not my problem to fix, and I don’t want to be anywhere near that when it’s announced. I head back up front with Pinta, with FRNG talking with her at the front counter machine.
Me: How’s it going up here?
FRNG: They tried to pull our equipment out, Pinta stared them down though.
Pinta: Yeah, they really wanted to put the old computer back up here for some reason.
Me: Are you sure it was the old computer?
Pinta: Well, no, it was a computer, I assumed it was the one they took off yesterday. Was it a new computer you think?
FRNG: If it’s like these other machines sitting here, it’s very new.
Pinta: Really? How new?
FRNG: with a grin Less than 6 months old I would guess, probably freshly made never used, the cases look brand new to me.
I notice SoftwareRep wanting my attention so I head that way.
Me: What’s up SoftwareRep?
SoftwareRep: These new computers are faster than the ones we brought, we should use them for the training class.
I look and see that SantaMaria is using the computers CityTech brought back this morning.
Me: That’s fine with me, but I thought the CityAdmin wanted to stick with our equipment for the week.
SantaMaria: I wasn’t told any of that, and this computer works better than the one you brought me.
Me: That’s a decision that you guys will have to make, you probably need to check in with him, sounds like something hasn’t been communicated to everyone.
She stares at me like I just told her to kick a puppy, then turns back to her workstation. I shrug at SoftwareRep and he continues to walk her through some process in the software.
I look at the empty desk and I see that they have gone ahead and setup a new pc there as well. I walk around the other desks and see those PCs are hooked up to the side. Maybe something was decided that I haven’t been informed about since we left for lunch.
I pause to let FRNG know to check none of our computers are missing, and then head to the CityAdmins office. I see him at his desk, back to the door, working on a computer, I lightly knock on the door.
Me: Hey, how are things going in here?
He turns to see me standing at the door, and grimaces, which I was not expecting.
CityAdmin: Hey, how long have you been back?
Me: We just got back, just checking in, nothing is wrong, I checked with the front office before I came back to check here.
CityAdmin: Oh, ok, did you talk to SantaMaria yet?
Me: She seemed to like the new computers, felt they were a better option than the ones we brought.
CityAdmin: Yes, we’re going to go with the equipment CityTech brought in this morning, it appears to be a better option that what you brought to loan us.
Me: That is fine, we were here to help you guys out with your software issues. If new equipment resolve all of those issues then I guess we achieved something.
CityAdmin: I expected you to go in a different direction with this…
Me: Why is that?
CityAdmin: I assumed this was a bid to prove we needed a better hardware vendor.
Me: You needed better hardware, my opinion on your vendor aside, that was the bottom line. You should never have been cleared for a Beta site with your old equipment. It was only through a chain of mistakes that you got approved with 5+ year old hardware in some cases.
CityAdmin: So it wasn’t an attempt to replace CityTech?
Me: I’m not sure how you could have gotten to that point, our equipment being here for a week was someone else's idea. It didn’t come from my side of the conversation, I think it was SantaMaria’s suggestion.
CityAdmin: So, I guess I owe you an apology, I thought this was an attempt to sell us hardware, at a minimum prove we needed new hardware.
Me: Well, I guess in a way it was, but it was just to show that the issues were not with the software. I don’t plan on recommending they quote you guys any hardware.
CityAdmin: Why not? Do you not want our hardware business?
Me: You sound upset now that I don’t want to quote you hardware. I’m confused by your change of heart. First you’re concerned we’re just trying to force you to get new hardware, from us, and now you’re upset that I am not to recommend a hardware quote.
That caused him to pause, and consider, something, maybe what I said or what he thought.
CityAdmin: I guess you’re right, but explain to me why you aren’t going to recommend any hardware quotes.
Me: You recognize that you need, needed, new computers right?
CityAdmin: Yes, I can see that our old computers were very old.
Me: You agree that the issues were not with our software?
CityAdmin: I can agree with that statement as well. But why no recommendation for hardware.
Me: That’s good enough for me, if you want to use CityTech for hardware, fine, if you want to request a quote from my company, that’s fine as well. But I won’t recommend my company quote you anything out of the blue, that’s not why I was sent here.
CityAdmin: Then why were you sent here?
Me: I was told to get the site running on the beta software, make sure everyone saw that it was not the software fault that you were having troubles. Think I’ve covered what I was directed to do, agreed?
Another pause with him bouncing his chair left and right, then he stops and comes upright behind his desk.
CityAdmin: What about the site report thing?
Me: Site Survery? You still have a lot of stuff that’s out of place, I don’t think you have any internet or network connections to all of the building. Wouldn’t be a good time to do it, I’ve not been notified that you requested on yet. Maybe they sent the notification to FRNG.
CityAdmin: So, once everything is back in place you can do the Site Survey report right?
Me: Yep
CityAdmin: And that will give us a detailed report for everything we have?
Me: A lot more details that you were able to share with me.
I grin when I say that and he seems to grasp that I am joking around.
CityAdmin: Yes, I need to bring that up with Bubba, we do need better documentation on what he is supplying.
Me: I would expect him to be able to provide more than the invoice when queried about the equipment. As a support service supplier, I’d hope they’d be more concerned with uptime as well.
CityAdmin: You have a point, so you have no problem with us using the new computers from CityTech?
Me: No problem at all, I assume they want to swap them out, or do they want us to do that?
CityAdmin: They will take care of that, and the file copying as well.
Me: Very well, I feel I should get that in writing though…
Delivered with another grin and this time he laughs.
CityAdmin: Thanks for not causing any trouble, I’ll let you get back to it now.
I head back up to the front office to find FRNG on the phone and Pinta with an intense frown as Guy2 tries to talk her into moving the front counter machine.
Me: It’s ok Pinta, the city is going to use the new hardware instead of what we brought.
She didn’t seem pleased with this decision, continued to frown and huff as the PC was swapped out.
Me: Are you going to load the files on their server?
SoftwareRep: I will take care of it, that’s why I’m here.
I notice FRNG standing with a concerned expression on his face.
Me: What’s wrong with you now?
FRNG: I need to go that other site remember, HardwareManager wanted me there right after lunch.
Me: Ok, we can go, good luck SoftwareRep, call if you have any issues. I’m riding with him today. Oh, gather all our workstations in one spot, I’ll get them tomorrow.
With that I head off with FRNG to another customer site for a hard drive swap out, rather boring but I do enjoy visiting with people that are actually happy to see tech support show up.
We get back to the office and unload all of the equipment we took to the CityHall. Then at my desk, I write up a report email to send to BT and BoardMan, updating them on what the CityHall is going to do about equipment. I make sure to inform them that the CityAdmin agreed it was a hardware issue, not software and that they are going with new equipment from CityTech. I let them know that FRNG thinks the hardware is less than a year out of date, and should fix most of the issues are the CityHall beta site. Then I pack it in and head to the homestead.

2015.06.30 18:22 GonzoMojo Hazardous Work Environment Part 2 - Terrible Tuesday (1-3)

"Everything is AWESOME!!!" I feel like that dude in that movie, that was supposed to fix everything, and the only way he could do it was by following the directions, which was exactly what no one else would do with a LOT of convincing....but that's another venting...
Story Index: Monday Part 1(1/2) - Monday Part 1(2/2) - Monday Part 1.5 - Tuesday Part 2 (1/3) - Tuesday Part 2 (2/3) - Tuesday Part 2 (3/3)
Tuesday started off sooo grand, everything was moving right along, breakfast was sizzling away, the coffee was percolating, and the birds were singing, or trying to sing at least. Then the emails started....
From HWM: If I didn't sign the waiver then it's not valid, you can tear it up.
I respond with...
To HWM: Tear up what, the document is missing, it's not in the stuff Samm turned in with his equipment.
He responds with...
From HWM: That works too thanks.
I decide to forward the entire thread to BT, and eat my breakfast, I accidentally drop the phone into the silverware drawer. I tidy up a bit, grab my phone then head to the office, I find FieldRepNewGuy waiting when I get there.
Me: Morning man, been waiting long?
FRNG: Nah, misjudged the time to get here somehow, we ready to go over?
Me: Yep, lets grab that fourth workstation and then we will go.
I head into the office and point out the workstation we will be taking over to the customer site. Then I grab the backup I ran the night before, I drop it in my kit bag and head back outside. I have a sudden urge to grab more gear, we go back in for a crash kit and some extra cat5 cable.
FRNG: Are you sure it's a good idea to go over in one car? What if there is an emergency?
Me: Should be ok, you're supposed to be at the CityHall all week per the meeting we had last week. Board Member eats HardwareManager in the food chain.
FRNG: Works for me...
It's a non-eventful drive to the CityHall, they are open when we get there so we go right inside. From the line, and the stares I assume there is some kind of issue.
Me: Morning all, is there a problem with the system?
SantaMaria: It's down, none of the computers can talk to the server. No internet either and we are having trouble printing.
Somehow she says all of that with a grin on her face. I look at the server sitting next to the front counter, it's not got a network connection. I move Pinta over and show her the server works stand alone, just to get the lines moving. Then I get FRNG to check the other workstations, no network connection.
Me: It looks like you are having network issues, did you guys have storms last night?
Santa Maria: Nope, we can't print to the copier either, what did you guys do to us?
Me: I'm don’t see how this is our fault, is the CityAdmin in yet?
Santa Maria: He has a meeting across town with the FireChief, he won't be in until 10am. Why?
Me: I need to ask him if this is something we should fix, you guys have a contract with Bubba for tech support. I don't want to upset anyone and void any contracts.
Sanata Maria: It's your computers that are broke, fix them!
I point at Pinta accepting payments and logging them in the system.
Me: This is a network issue, not a computer issue, we can fix it, but are we OK to do so?
Santa Maria turns a deep shade of red and hops up and down.
Santa Maria: Fix it! Fix it! Fix it!
I grab a piece of paper and jot down a quick, I _____, request that you repair the network issue this morning of ____. I hand it over to the temper tantrum having Santa Maria.
Me: Sign it here in print, date it there in ....date, and sign it at the bottom.
She looks at me like I'm an idiot, then looks around the room. Nina is standing over to the side with some folders, and Pinta is ignoring the situation by working on accepting the bills and payment.
Santa Maria: Um..is this necessary?
Me: If you want us to work on something, I need you to sign that....
I point at the paper she has in her hand, she huffs, tosses up her arms and mumbles as she goes over to her desk.
Me: Todays the 10th...
She glares at me as she savagely marks at the paper, she then stomps over and all but throws it at me. I grab it out of the air, and fold it into my pocket.
Me: Where is the network equipment? Do you have a closet?
She turns and stops off, Nina comes over to where I'm standing.
Nina: It's in the closet by the restroom in the lobby, all the electrical network stuff is in there.
I wave at FRNG and he comes over, I let him know where I'm going and to wait for me to call. I head out to the lobby and I notice the only door next to the restroom door is open slightly, I push it open. Cables everywhere and not much as far as equipment goes, I don't see a switch in the room. Closer inspection and I find they do not, in fact, have any type of switch or hub in this room. I can't even see where they have network cables run up through the ceiling tiles, but there is a big bundle coming through a square in the back wall.. I head back to the clerk offices, then over to FRNG at one of the desks.
Me: FRNG go out and get the crash kit, we'll need any switches you have and bring in that box of cat5.
He nods and rushes out the door. I inspect the cabling at the counter and it just goes into the wall, no wall plate, and I assume it ends up in that utility closet. I start to look for a label, sticker or even something written on the cable, then something occurs to me.
Me: Have you called your tech guys and let them know you're having issues?
Santa Maria: Yeah, we called them, they said it sounded like a computer issue. Your computers, your issue.
Me: This is a network issue, if that room over there is where your network equipment is, was, then you have a bigger problem than the network being down.
Santa Maria: What do you mean?
Me: There is no equipment in that room, it's just a bunch of patch cables in a knot on the floor, someone has relieved you of your network equipment. I'm hoping it's just in a different spot and not in that room, do you know if there is a ladder I can use to look about the ceiling tiles?
Santa Maria: Wait, you....wait....what do you mean there is just cables in that room, that's where all the network equipment is located, I know that's where it is, I have to reset a thing in there sometimes.
Me: So you have network problems in the past and you reset a .. 'thing' .. to fix it?
She compresses her lips into a hard thin line and all the color leaves her face. Suddenly, sudden enough I jerk back in surprise, she turns to stomp off to her desk.
Me:I call out to her retreating back I'm happy to talk to them if they need me to do so.
FRNG: Their old server is gone too....
I look up and he is standing in their 'server' room, which is basically a table in a filing room. I walk over and sure enough, the server is gone from the room. I see he has set the crash kit down, a box contains a few small switches and a box of Cat5e cable in the room under the table.
Me: What the hell is going on here?
I turn around and Santa Maria is hanging up the phone, with a smile on her face.
Me: What did your Tech guys say?
She just hummed and I decided I needed to make a call myself, I waved for FRNG to follow me and we head out the side door.
Me: I'm calling BT, call HWM and tell him what happened.
FRNG: What happened?
Well, the same story might help I guess.
Me: Tell HWM that the network was down when we came in, their network equipment has left the building and the cities server is also AWOL.
I started my call, the phone rings a few times and goes to voice mail. I give BT a quick run down of the situation and what I think, then I hang up. I listen as FRNG is talking to HWM, he doesn't seem to like what he is hearing, he finally gets done and hangs up.
FRNG: This customer isn't on hardware support, so if we do anything it's billable.
That's going to help the situation greatly. We head back inside, and are greeted by a rather upset CityAdmin.
CityAdmin: What did you do? How did you lose our network equipment?
I look over at Santa Maria, she has certainly ate the canary from that expression.
Me: Excuse me?
CityAdmin: I was just called in the middle of a budget meeting with the fire department and told that you lost all of the network equipment and the city hall is down! this was delivered in all but a yell
Pinta: No, his stuff is working, we're up and accepting payments, I've taken in 50 payments so far. Credit Cards are down though, think that's because of the internet being out.
CityAdmin jerks around and apparently makes a face that Pinta doesn't agree with from the look she returns to CityAdmin.
Me: I didn't touch the equipment, it was gone when we got here this morning. You're also missing a server, and I'm not sure your paid tech support has done anything about any of it yet.
CityAdmin: They aren't here?!
This time Santa Maria looks like she's tasted something foul, and quickly grabs her phone to make a call.
CityAdmin: Wait, our server is missing too?
His mouth opens and closes a few times, then he jerks around and stomps out the door. I give a quick glance at FRNG and head the same way. Outside in the entry way I see that he is striding with purpose towards his office door, still mumbling with some animated arm waving. I wait a second, and then decide I need to get ahead of this somehow...I pause in the hall when I hear CityAdmin slam something pretty hard.
CityAdmin: shouting Where the hell is my computer!!!
I almost turn and go back to the front office, but I head down the hall to his office and knock on the door frame.
Me: Hey, got a minute.
He is working angrily at his desk, his head tracks slowly around and he scowls at me, then his expression changes somewhat.
CityAdmin: Can you fix this?
Me: Yep, but I want to make sure you know we didn’t do anything to any of your existing equipment. You’re missing 4-5 workstations and your server, all the network equipment is gone as well. I’m not sure what happened last night, but when we left yesterday everything was working.
CityAdmin: Is any of the equipment you installed yesterday gone?
Me: Nope, it’s all there.
CityAdmin: Can you get the internet back up for everyone?
Me: I can get the network back up, I didn’t see any router or modem in the network room. I don’t know if I can get the internet back up quickly or at all.
The CityAdmin visibly calms down a good bit, he looks mildly annoyed instead of in attack mode now.
CityAdmin: Please get the computers in the front office working, and we can go from there.
Me: Sure thing, I’ll let you know when they are all up.
